Historic Times

I've decided to start blogging on a regular basis. I believe we live in historic times and that, as an American, I have a duty to try to inspire my fellow citizens to action so that our children and future generations will be able to live, as we and our ancestors have, in the freest country the world has ever known.

So..... how did we, as a country, grow so apathetic about the world around us? How did we, as a country, put a man in the most powerful office in the world without knowing the most basic information about him, or by willfully ignoring his circle of friends, influences, and political views? How did we, as a country, allow ourselves to become -- or to be forced into becoming -- so politically correct?

How in the world did we become so afraid of "offending" or of "being judgmental" that we will no longer call Evil by its name? Not only won't we call Evil by its name, we don't even allow for Good and Evil. We have pushed God out of our schools, our public squares, and even our families. We treat "single motherhood," "gay marriage," and "blended families" as things to be celebrated. We keep our collective heads buried in the sand when it comes to the very real and tangible threat to our freedom posed by socialists, communists, and, yes, by Islam. We pretend that the 9/11 terrorists highjacked not only the planes but also a religion. We pretend that the President of the United States does not surround himself with communists, socialists, anti-colonialists, and other anti-capitalists. We pretend that our parents' or grandparents' maxim that "you judge a person by the company they keep" is passe, outdated, even trite.

We say "Never Again" when we refer to the Holocaust, but ignore the Muslim cleric who preaches "death to the Jews" to 40 MILLION Muslims every week. We stand by while our "free press" and politicians call Glenn Beck "extreme," "divisive," and "a fear monger," while giving a pass to the Muslim clerics and politicians who call daily for the destruction of Israel and the obliteration of the Jewish people. How many Americans think Beck is extreme, divisive or a hate monger, but never once have tuned in to his show or fact-checked his presentation? Many too many. When did we become such a nation of sheeple?

How many of our children know the role that Thomas Paine, Samuel Adams, or the "black robe brigade" played in our country's history? No doubt they would say they have no idea who Paine was, that Samuel Adams is a beer, and the black robe brigade must be a new band. When we don't know our history, we can't chart our future. Our history has been rewritten and distorted. We complain that teachers aren't paid enough, but how many teachers have stopped teaching the real history of our great nation? Have you looked at a text book of American history lately? Do you know that there public schools that teach our children that America "stole" the west from Mexico and that American students should not be permitted to wear teeshirts with the American flag because it might "offend" their Mexican 0r Mexican-American classmates?

This brings me to another pressing issue, illegal immigration. Why do you think it is that Americans who want the border sealed are labeled racists? Why do you think it is that every other country on earth forbids and penalizes illegal immigration, yet our country not only condones but financially supports those who come here illegally? Why should states like California move full speed ahead toward bankruptcy (illegal immigration costs the state billions annually in education, health care, housing, and law enforcement), while cities there (San Francisco, for example) proudly proclaim themselves to be "sanctuary cities"?

I'm not sure how many, if any, will start reading my blog. I hope that it catches on, and that like-minded people will find support here and that uninformed people will be challenged here. At a minimum, my children will have a record of my thoughts during these historic and precarious times.......
